Klemt Echolette Showstar S40 - Mastervolume

Hallo Musikerfreunde/innen,

bei meinem Klemt Echolette Showstar S40 würde ich gerne ein Mastervolume nachrrüsten.

Kondensatorkur wurde bereits durchgeführt. Der Showstar klingt an sich fantastisch, geht aber erst bei recht hohem Schallpegel in die Endstufenzerre.

Ich würde den Master Volume vor dem Gitter der V3 (Pin 1)  positionieren, bin mir allerdings noch unschlüssig, ob das eine gute Idee wäre und es ggf. noch Alternativen gibt.

Fender positioniert das Master Volume bei den Silverface Twin Reverbs ja vor dem PI.

Da bleibt ja eigentlich nur noch das PPIMV mit Tandem Poti.

Racing:
If the amplifiers distortion is what you´re after you should really install two pots.
One as a "regular" master,which will then become gaincontrol for the phaseinverter,and then a PPIMV.
The latter entails installing a couple of extra capacitors outbound of the phaseinverter. One for each signal vs the powerstage.


Difference is rather massive,just take my word for it.

The "master control" pot (in reality gaincontrol) you setup with a regular 1M Ohm log pot. The PPIMV in turn..decouple it completely,use a twin 500k log pot. Ie; a "stereo" pot.
Both the 1 mega Ohm pot and the PPIMV pot should ground where the phaseinverter grounds on the PCB. Secure wiring with for instance ty-wraps and a dab of non hardening glue.

Racing:
This done it might very well be that you experience the amp to be somewhat "harsh" and "hard" to the tone. In such a case experiment with the two tailresistors of the phaseinverter.
In that case increase the two tail resistors values by reasonable proportions to retain function of the brilliant presence control. Also be aware that the presence control will work less the lower the PPIMV is dialed.

Wenn es Dir auf die Endstufenzerre ankommt, bietet sich Power-Scaling an. Bei PPIMV macht die Gegenkopplung Theater.
