Balanced output for Hiwatt

(1/2) > >>

kentuckytukker:
Does anybody has information how to add a balanced output to a Hiwatt amplifier. I found that the MYWATT amps, by Weber, have been sold with this feature. As far as I could see they have used a small transformer but further details are unknown. Maybe someone has a schematic diagram or other details

bea:
I do not have a schematic - but it is a simple passive DI circuit built around a toshiba transformer. Phase switch is lacking ;-(

Cheap and good quality approach: unmantle the cheap passive DI box from Thomann (Harley Benton?) and implant it into the amp. That cheap DI box costs about as much as the toshiba transformer, but sounds really good.

Hi

Or take the pcb of the cabsim kit from the shop. This one sounds also nice. Just played with headphones for 30 minutes.

Hi

Mywatt Amps use  a line out circuit similar to the following:

https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/audio-uebertrager-1-1-2-1-fuer-line-signale-ltr-110.html

and for the LTR 110 Transformer there is a little PCB available at the Tube Town Store

I have installed, tested and coordinated with Max Weber years ago in a Mywatt 100 (which was built before his amps had a line-out).
Max Weber asked me for that and since then he uses these circuits... maybe with slight variations (higher resistor), depending on the amp's power ...100, 200 or 400 Watt

and try to place it inside the chassis ... as far away as possible from the big transformers, because this circuit with the little LTR-110 is not shielded magnetically.
