Also bei aller Liebe, Martin, ich glaub` da hat`s gestern zu stark geweht bei Euch da droben ...
Du wirst mir jetzt aber nicht erzählen wollen, dass du ne 6V6 wie ne EL84 oder gar ne EL34 klingen lassen willst ... - oder hab ich das vielleicht falsch verstanden ??? Alleine der bauliche Unterschiede lässt die Dinger unterschiedlich sein. Wer das nicht hört MUSS taub sein. Das merke ich sogar mit hochgradigem Tinnitus. Oder vielleicht gerade deshalb  :o

Jo, ich kann mir nicht vorwerfen, dass ich bei der Elli zu wenig getestet hab. Trotzdem konnte ich nicht die Klangveränderung hervorrufen, was ein Wechsel von EH ECC83 auf Ei ECC83 hervorruft.

Das Einzige was ich mit deinen Punkten verändern kann ist die Härte/Kompression des Klangs (die typischen Sachen halt).

You`re right with that. But I think there are many other Amps which use EL 84 f.e. which do not sound like an AC30 --> Plexi 18 Watt. So, the sound is created in the preamp, too. Isn`t it ;D
The easiest way for me to check this was to change the KT66 in my SLO/2 to EL34 and then to some old 6CA7. It was a huge difference and I ended with the KT`s.

I have to improve my english -- > EDV, you know  ;D. Every week now two hours as afterwork party  ^-^

exactly my point. Important word is 'too' -- not only, but also.

Every time I messed around with operating points I ended up where I started - the recommended value. How about that. After going around there, it was time to look at other factors. Like tone stacks, or phase inverters, or the pentodes. Whatever.

Champs are so insanely simple to build I don't know why I didn't build one long ago. I was able to crank it up for a while today, and decided - I'm going to have to play with the operating point of the 6V6, it's not distorting the way I want it to. Too harsh. And it's a good tube, too - a NOS '66 Sylvania black plate GTY. Deserves to sound its best.

so, the conclusion is: Every Output Tube sounds different  :o

If the 6V6 sound too harsh it`s (perhaps) to cool. It`s nearly the same as with th EL 84: Hot, but not to hot. That`s my experience.
