Titel: Replacing Power Supply Resistor with a Choke on Molly kit
Beitrag von: mrosso am 27.03.2019 16:25
Hi all, can anyone tell me what choke would work with the Molly kit power supply? I'd like to replace R3 on the PSU with a traditional choke to filter DC. Thanks

Hi,

for what reason?

I built a Molly without a choke and it doesn't hum at all …

Cheers

Thanks. I was just wondering if a choke would be a better option than the resistor. Would it make a difference in smoothing out the DC better and filtering noise? There's not a lot of room to mount it on the chassis, so I may forget the idea all together. Your opinions are most welcome. Thanks

Yes, a choke is better, but the question is whether it is necessary. If there is no hum present without it, I would say no. But feel free to give it a try, it's not that expensive.
